Introduction :
Awareness – Interest – Enthusiasm – Use – Frustration – Going Back to XL is a life cycle of use of Microsoft Project. This course does not only teach the tool but also helps "Exploiting" the tool to suit the project needs. It creates an understanding of the logic behind using the tool. This course is designed to make participants comfortable & confident in using Microsoft Project. Prerequisite :
This course is designed for those who have some project management knowledge, but who are new to Microsoft Project, or have preliminary knowledge of Microsoft Project.
H/w S/w Reqd. :
At-least 10 computers, assuming 10 participants will be present. Ideally each participant should have a machine. If not possible, not more than 2 people should share one machine to maintain the effectiveness of the program. LCD and a PC should be available to the trainer faculty. All machines should be loaded with Project 2000/ 2003/2007 OR 2010 (Any version is ok, depending upon the participants' use). LCD and Machine to the trainer faculty. White board, white board markers.
Course Coverage :
Day 1 : Introduction & Overview of Project management: Project Management knowledge areas and process areas. Overview of MSP: What is MSP? , Introductory test on MSProject. Reading a schedule in MSP: Project Statistics, Auto filters & custom filters, "Viewing Work, Duration, Cost", Task Usage view- overview, Resource Usage view- overview, sample case study and schedule reading assignment. Writing/developing project schedule in MSP: Flow of writing a project schedule, Gantt view & formatting, Task dependency types & significance, use of task entry view, Task types & significance, Task Constraints, Resource sheet details & significance, Project & Resource Calendars, Resource Allocation, concept of Baseline.
Day 2 : Tracking/updating plan in MSP': Getting feedback from the resources – Timesheets, different ways of updating the plan, 'Tracking Gantt' view, concept of 'Progress Lines', saving interim plans, Project Tracking assignment. Printing from MSP: Printing Gantt chart, note on customization, Reports Customizing MSProject, Using MSProject for multiple projects.
