Earn Value Management – how much, for what, by when?

Introduction :

There are the three most important questions asked in any projects. How much money; for what; and by when? It is a very simple expression of cost management, scope management and time management. One experiences more fun in answering these questions, for these questions exist at two levels – one is 'planned' and second is 'actual'. This jugglery is EVM.
EVM is a very effective performance measurement & feedback tool for managing projects. Many organizations have already incorporated EVM value metric system. It helps in bringing in visibility and predictability in projects.

Learning Objectives : The participants will be able to …

  • Understand the fundamentals of EVM.
  • Understand and use basic elements – PV, EV, and AC of EVM.
  • Appreciate the issues involved in determining EV
  • Use different techniques of determining EV
  • Perform EVM performance analysis and forecasting
  • Develop performance measurement baselines
  • Measure and analyze performance against baseline
  • Achieve 14 contact hours of Project Management Education

Methodology :

The participants will be made aware about the topics by using techniques like :

  • Group discussions & group presentations
  • Movies
  • Games and role plays
  • Post training assessment

Prerequisite :

Participants should have project management background or at least have worked in project environment. The course is equally useful for those who are about to begin their role as project managers. It would be advantageous to include the participants of similar profiles in terms of their seniority/ experience attending the batch.
